Jobseekers: Don’t Miss This Opportunity

On Tuesday, November 25, 2025, the SUNY Queens Educational Opportunity Center in partnership with the NYS Department of Civil Service, will host two in-person information sessions for anyone interested in building a stable, long-term career in public service.

There are two sessions being hosted that day:

  • 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM
  • 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM

Location: Queens EOC, 158-29 Archer Ave., Jamaica, NY 11433

These sessions will provide practical, hands-on guidance to help you:

  • Learn how the NYS Civil Service Merit System works
  • Explore current job openings and apply on-the-spot
  • Understand qualifications, test formats, and career pathways
  • Get informed about the NY HELPS Program, which temporarily waives exam requirements for many positions
  • Receive support directly from trained Civil Service staff

For residents seeking competitive wages, benefits and long-term career growth, civil service offers a pathway to stability and advancement. I encourage anyone interested to attend and take full advantage of this resource.
