Tell Elected Officials to Pass Early Retirement Incentives!

Wednesday 10 February 2021

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I am asking you to send this letter to the leaders of the State and City demanding that they support the enactment of an Early Retirement Incentive (ERI). We believe that an ERI would help maintain New York City's financial stability during this pandemic-related budget crisis.

*Please note that we have STOPPED the threat of layoffs. This letter was written before the layoffs were stopped, so it includes language mentioning potential layoffs. We still believe this is a crucial program and urge you to join the writing campaign to support it.*

We also support the authorization for the Mayor to borrow money to ease the budget gap. We have prepared a letter that you can sign and send to Governor Cuomo, Senate Majority Leader Stewart-Cousins, Mayor DeBlasio and City Council Speaker Johnson. Assembly Leader Heastie has expressed his support of both initiatives.

Please share this message with coworkers, family, friends - anyone who is willing to stand with us! We are essential to New York City.

In Solidarity,

President Anthony Wells
