Organization and Education - It All Starts With Organizing
The organization section works to the heart of keeping the union membership informed and engaged. The organizers are employed by the union and are a major part in helping to form a delegate structure on the location. The organizers’ role consists of supporting, educating, and at times representing members on location. The membership is the backbone of the union and the involvement of the members is pivotal to keeping the union movement strong.
The organizers are assigned to various locations throughout the city. To find out who your organizer is you should contact the Organization section and speak with the Administrative Assistant Karen Tomlinson or Vice President Armenta G. Weekes.
Engaging, educating, and empowering members in contract fights and other forms of collective action aimed at strengthening our union.
Relationship building is at the core of organizing – and happens in different ways at different times. Organizing gives us a rare, exciting opportunity to develop strong, public relationships with many interesting and hopeful people who care about the same things we care about.
